As I am looking forward to a brighter 2018 I’m thinking one of the valuable tactics I can employ and perhaps you can as well is that of monitoring my daily evolution. Martin Seligman of U of Penn suggests that a part of well being or a life being well lived is to keep track of our achievements by recording them. For me that implies heeding Plato’s admonition to examine our lives, and looking at those areas of “constructive discontent.” I had a wonderful vacation in December with a cruise from Barcelona to Miami and holiday parties when I got back on the 20th, I felt a need to return to address the important area of health and physical fitness.
I’m reminded of Earl Nightingale’s definition of success “The progressive realization of a worthwhile ideal.” So, for me, for now, to assuage the feelings of dissatisfaction abiding in my slothful inactivity I’m going to get off my duff and record it.
I hope this has been helpful.
